Akonix A1000 Appliance

The Akonix A1000 is designed to satisfy the security requirements of small and medium sized businesses at the lowest total cost of ownership. Easy to deploy and administer, the A1000 is designed for environments with limited IT resources.

Implement Protection

Security products designed for internet and email security will not defend against IM attacks. The Akonix A1000 appliance protects networks from viruses, worms and other attacks over IM, controls access to public and enterprise IM, and ensures all IM is logged to meet regulatory requirements for electronic communications.

The Akonix A1000 appliance is a 1-U rack mountable server with a redundant hard drive.

A1000 appliances are factory configured with the following features

L7 Enterprise: An enterprise-class IM gateway used for mediating access to public and enterprise IM, enforcing policies on appropriate IM use; protecting the network and end users from IM-based viruses and attacks; and monitoring and logging all IM conversations.

L7 Enforcer: Delivers perimeter security that detects and blocks unauthorized use of high-risk and evasive public IM and peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) applications on enterprise networks.

AkOS ™ Operating System: A-Series appliances, built from the core out, utilize an operating system designed specifically for real-time messaging environments and system security.

Akonix Reporter: Customizable reporting tool provides historical reports on IM usage.

Activity Monitor: A detailed real-time performance focus on IM use within the enterprise. Administrators can launch a series of reports (with easy-to-read charts and tables) highlighting IM performance metrics. This real-time data shows trend lines, visually comparing current usage to historical norms.

Appliance Manager: Allows administrators to easily manage and administer the system, review system logins, audit product and security updates, and manage trace logs.

Database Support: The ability to run the database on-box or off-box in order to best fit into existing environments seamlessly without changes to the customer’s infrastructure. A-Series appliances are factory configured with a PostgreSQL database.
